17th Annual Awards Luncheon

On Friday, June 16, 2017, over 500 leaders from the Los Angeles legal, business, and civic communities gathered at the Omni Los Angeles hotel for Inner City Law Center’s 17th Annual Awards luncheon to support our work advocating on behalf of the homeless, our nation’s veterans, and families in need in Southern California.

This year’s luncheon raised almost $800,000. Thank you to all those who joined us to ensure that Inner City Law Center has the resources needed to fight for justice for the poorest and most vulnerable in our community.

We were delighted to honor:

  • Judicate West Foundation and Var Fox – Humanitarian Award
Judicate West is one of California’s leading providers of private dispute resolution services. The Judicate West Foundation provides funding to nonprofits to support designated projects that enhance understanding of and access to justice, provide education in conflict resolution and peer mediation, and in general improve the administration of justice. Each year, Judicate West hosts a “Suite Night of Baseball” event at Angels Stadium to support ICLC’s Homeless Veterans Project. Sharing the award will be Judicate West’s Executive Vice President and Co-Founder Var Fox, in recognition of his deep commitment to our work.
  • Marian Wright Edelman and Peter B. Edelman – Katharine Krause Award
Marian and Peter Edelman embody the founding principle of ICLC that everyone should always be treated with dignity and respect. They have been advocates for disadvantaged Americans for their entire professional lives. As the founder and director of the Children’s Defense Fund, and as the founder and director of the Center on Poverty and Inequality at Georgetown University Law Center, they have demonstrated a deep commitment to providing civil legal representation for those who cannot afford it.

More information about these remarkable honorees can be found here.
